“This is to respectfully tender my courtesy resignation as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in support of His Excellency’s directive to realign the government with the people’s expectations,” Remulla said in a letter to Marcos on Thursday.
Immediately after Marcos’ order on Thursday morning, Remulla told reporters in a message, “I serve at the pleasure of the President. There is no more important agenda than his. I will always accede to his wisdom.”

The order for all Cabinet secretaries to resign allows the President to assess each department’s performance and decide who will remain at their posts in line with the administration’s recalibrated priorities.
The Interior Department oversees local government units, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, among other agencies.
Remulla took the helm of the department last October.
