“This decision aligns with the president’s directive for Cabinet-wide courtesy resignations,” he said.
“We support this process. We value and trust the president’s decision to strengthen his leadership and governance,” he added.
Angara also thanked Marcos for the opportunity, saying his stint as head of the Department of Education (DepEd) was “the greatest honor of his public life.”
Angara is one of Marcos’ Cabinet secretaries with the shortest tenure, serving only 10 months after replacing Vice President Sara Duterte DepEd secretary.
Angara has assured the public that he is committed to a smooth and seamless transition to his successor.
“The vital work of the department must continue with no roadblocks,” he added.
Marcos’ move to reset his Cabinet came after the conclusion of the 2025 midterm elections.
Marcos said that resetting the Cabinet would give him the opportunity to evaluate each department’s performance and determine who will remain, in line with his administration’s recalibrated priorities./mcm
