MANILA, Philippines — No resolution seeking to dismiss the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte has reached the desk of Senate President Francis Escudero.
He confirmed this during a press conference on Monday.
“I still don’t see any resolution. The resolution you released — you were the ones who released it, not the Senate. As long as nothing is officially filed, we have nothing to act on or address,” he said.
Escudero also declined to discuss a resolution that has not been formally filed.

“There’s no such resolution filed or pending in the Senate right now. Whatever that’s being circulated has yet to be authored. It was only shown to me by the media, and it’s what they call a mere scrap of paper unless it gets filed, unless someone authors it, unless it gets debated upon, and unless we vote on it,” Escudero said in an ambush interview last Wednesday.
However, Escudero said they will act once such a measure is filed.
Former top cop turned lawmaker Sen. Ronald dela Rosa also confirmed on Wednesday that the draft resolution seeking the “de facto dismissal” of the impeachment trial against Duterte came from his office.
Besides his draft resolution, Dela Rosa said he had seen three other resolution drafts seeking to dismiss the impeachment bid against Duterte./mcm
