MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring rains in Mindanao and Palawan while the easterlies will result in hot and fair weather conditions in portions of Luzon and Visayas on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the low-pressure area monitored in the West Philippine Sea has already exited the Philippine area of responsibility.

Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said that hot weather is expected in a huge portion of Luzon due to easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
“We have partly cloudy to cloudy skies over Central and Southern Luzon as early as morning while fair weather conditions are expected in the north,” Estareja said in Filipino during Pagasa’s 5 a.m. weather forecast.
He also said that isolated rain showers are forecast in Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet, while scattered rain showers are possible in other parts of Luzon.
Meanwhile, Palawan will see frequent rains, especially in the central portion, due to the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres.
“In Visayas, expect fair weather conditions, especially in the western and central portions, but Eastern Visayas will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies and a huge chance of rains in the Eastern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte in the afternoon,” Estareja added.
Lastly, Estareja said that huge portions of Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City) and Davao Occidental will experience thunderstorms as early as morning.

“Frequent overcast skies are expected in the morning until evening, with scattered rains and thunderstorms, light to moderate with at times heavy rains from early noon until evening,” he noted.
He also said that no sea travel suspensions are expected until Sunday due to light to moderate sea conditions. /das/abc
