MANILA,聽 Philippines 鈥� Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday bared the Senate minority鈥檚 plan to initiate the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.
鈥淢ga kababayan, hindi tayo papayag na ang Senado pa ang unang susuway sa Saligang Batas,鈥� Hontiveros said at a press conference in the Senate. 鈥淜aya naman ngayong hapon, mamaya sa plenary, kikilos kami sa Senate Minority para simulan na ang aming konstitusyonal na tungkulin.鈥�
鈥淲e in the Senate Minority will formally move to commence the opening rites in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte,鈥� she added.
Senate President Francis Escudero scheduled the presentation of charges against Duterte by the House panel of prosecutors on June 11, the last day of the session before the 19th Congress adjourns sine die.
