PNP ACG May ops nab 33 wanted persons for various cybercrime acts

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-three wanted individuals were arrested for cybercrimes in May 2025, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) said Wednesday.

In a statement, PNP ACG said 10 of the individuals were arrested for cyber libel.

Meanwhile, six suspects were nabbed for violations of Republic Act 8484 or the Access Devices Regulation Act, which pertains to credit cards, debit cards and other means for digital payments.

The ACG said there were five suspects arrested each for swindling/estafa and violation of RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Voyeurism Act.

Further, two suspects were each collared for violations of RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act and RA 7183 or the Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices Act.

Then, one suspect was arrested each for violations of RA 12010 or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act, RA 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, and qualified theft through falsification of commercial documents.

In another statement, PNP ACG said it secured 13 convictions in court cases from January to May 2025.

Five of the cases involved individuals charged with violating RA 12010, four were charged with violating RA 11934 or the SIM Registration Act, and two were charged with violating RA 7392 or the Philippine Midwifery Act.

Meanwhile, one each was charged for robbery with intimidation and violating RA 9175 or the Chain Saw Act.

All these alleged violations and convictions were in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act. /cb
