P6.68-M drugs seized in Benguet, Sorsogon, Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — Suspected drugs valued at a total of P6.68 million were confiscated by authorities in operations across the provinces of Benguet, Sorsogon and Cavite, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
The Benguet operation took place on Monday in Barangay Betag, La Trinidad, where 21 tubular packages weighing a kilogram each were found to contain suspected dried marijuana leaves supposedly worth P560,000, PDEA said in a statement Tuesday.
The agency added that two suspects were caught in the Benguet sting, only identifying them as a 31-year-old male and a 44-year-old male.

Meanwhile, another sting in Barangay Bibincahan, Sorsogon City led to the confiscation of 300 grams of suspected shabu (crystal meth) valued at P2.04 million on Monday morning, PDEA detailed in another statement.
The suspect in the Sorsogon buy-bust operation was a 21-year-old alleged drug courier, according to the agency.

Later on Monday, authorities in Cavite caught a 33-year-old tricycle driver allegedly selling shabu in a drug sting in Barangay H2, Dasmariñas City, according to another PDEA statement.
Six hundred grams of suspected shabu valued at P4.08 million was recovered from the suspect during the operation Monday afternoon, PDEA added.
All four suspects arrested in the operations will face cases for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act. /cb
