Marcos meets with labor leaders, vows to protect workers’ rights

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday met with labor leaders, during which he committed to protecting the rights and interests of workers in the country.
Marcos said he met with the labor leaders at the Goldenberg Mansion in Malacañang Compound.

“I spoke with our labor leaders to ensure that the rights and welfare of our workers remain protected,” said Marcos in Filipino in a Facebook post.
“The government continues to support open and meaningful dialogue towards dignified work, adequate wages, and a hopeful future for every Filipino family,” he added.
Among the labor leaders Marcos met with were lawyer Raymond Democrito Mendoza, who serves as president of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP); as well as House Deputy Speaker Michael Democrito Mendoza, who serves as the national president of the Associated Labor Unions (ALU).
Also present in the meeting were National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry of the Philippines president Roland dela Cruz, All Workers Alliance Trade Unions president Temistocles Dejon Jr., Pambansang Kilusan ng Paggawa president Arthur Juego, Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization vice president Arvin Dolendo, and Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization Arvin Dolendo.
ALU-TUCP vice president for national and international affairs Luis Corral, ALU national executive vice president Gerard Seno, ALU national vice president for Luzon Cecilio Seno Jr., Southern Mindanao Federation of Labor Archie Capoy, ALU Vice president for administration Rosalo Aragon, as well as other ALU and TUCP officials were also in the meeting. /das
