2 dead, 2 hurt in Quezon road mishap

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A van driver and his passenger died while two others were injured in a road accident along the Maharlika Highway in Plaridel town in Quezon province on Monday, police said Tuesday.

A report from the Quezon provincial police said a Bicol-bound tourist bus, Elavil Tours Phils Inc., being driven by Roy Rosanes, accidentally bumped an incoming Mitsubishi L-300 van being driven by Carlito Pagsanajan in Barangay (village) Tanauan around 5 p.m.

Report said Rosanes, after overtaking another vehicle, tried but failed to stop his bus to avoid hitting the van.

Pagsanajan died while being treated at the Rakk Hospital in nearby Gumaca town while one of his passengers, Jorge Espedido, died before reaching Gumaca District Hospital.

Two other van passengers, Nida Derit and Juan De Bulos, were receiving treatment at Saint Anne Hospital in Lucena City. SFM/rga
