Rainy Independence Day forecast in parts of PH – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Rains are expected to prevail over parts of the country on Independence Day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday.
Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres said that the southwest monsoon, or habagat, is currently affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Torres noted that occasional rains will be up in Occidental Mindoro. Zambales, and Bataan.
“Cloudy skies and thunderstorms are expected over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, and the rest of Central Luzon, Bicol region, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, and Quezon), and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan),” Torres said in Pagasa’s 5 p.m. forecast.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will experience fair weather conditions with chances of partly cloudy to cloudy skies and localized thunderstorms.
Lastly, Visayas and Mindanao will also see rains and localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa also reported that the low pressure area (LPA) monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
The LPA was located 490 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 8 p.m.
The tropical storm “Wutip” monitored outside the PAR was last seen 945 km of Northern Luzon.

Rainfall outlook
Pagasa also said that Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro are forecast to experience 100 to 200 millimeters (mm) of rainfall until Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, 50 to 100 mm of rainfall will prevail over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Cavite, Batangas, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albau, Sorsogon, Antique, Negros Occidental, Guimaras and Northern Samar.
Pagasa warned of possible flooding and landslides in these areas. /cb
