MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the state weather bureau.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also said as of 8 a.m., the LPA was last monitored 300 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union.
Earlier, Pagasa said the LPA is expected to move westward, away from the country, and will likely exit the PAR within the next few days.
If it develops into a tropical cyclone inside the PAR, the state weather bureau said it would be named “Auring.”
Aside from this LPA, Pagasa has not detected any other weather disturbances inside or outside the country’s monitored areas./mcm
