Laguna village councilman shot dead

LUCENA CITY — An incumbent barangay kagawad (village councilman) in Siniloan, Laguna, was shot and killed on Saturday, June 7, by a motorcycle-riding gunman, police said.
In a report on Sunday, June 8, the Region 4A police said the victim, “Rin,” 51, a councilman in Barangay Llavac, was traveling aboard his motorcycle at 12:17 p.m. when he was shot thrice by another motorcyclist running behind him using an unspecified handgun.
The victim fell off the motorcycle and died on the spot from fatal gunshot wounds. The assailant, who was wearing a white jacket and black helmet, sped off after the shooting aboard a black Mio motorcycle.
The police were conducting further investigations to establish the motive behind the killing and identify the killer.
