DOTr to replace ‘Mount Kamuning’ footbridge this year

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will construct a new footbridge within the year to replace the one along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) near Kamuning Road, dubbed by netizens as “Mount Kamuning.”
This came after a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during a visit to the Metro Rail Transit Line over the weekend.
“‘Mount Kamuning will be replaced with a lower footbridge with elevators and will be connected to the GMA-Kamuning Edsa busway station.” ng ‘Mount Kamuning’ ng mas mababang footbridge na may elevators at konektado na sa GMA-Kamuning Edsa Busway station,” DOTr said in a statement on Thursday.
“Construction on the project is expected to start this year,” the DOTr added.
DOTr also unveiled the conceptual design in a video posted on its official social media page.

“The President’s order is clear, to make our facilities more convenient for pedestrians and commuters,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said in the statement.
“That’s what we’ll do, we’ll ensure that the overpass to be constructed will be easier to use,” Dizon added.
