MANILA, Philippines — New Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III vowed to strengthen the Internal Affairs Service (IAS), the PNP’s watchdog against erring officers.
Torre said this in response to a question about internal cleansing initiatives during a press briefing after he took command of the PNP in a ceremony at Camp Crame on Monday.
“We just would like our fellow citizens, if you see any wrongdoing by our police officers, to know that the Internal Affairs Service is there,” Torre said.
“We are going to strengthen and I will really focus the Internal Affairs Services on investigation and prosecution,” he added.
