MANILA, Philippines — Starting June 1 and every Sunday, commuters can enjoy three free rides with just one paying in all Metro Manila rail lines.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who led the launching of the “Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo” across the Metro Rail Transit 3, Light Rail Transit 1 and 2, said that the initiative aims to alleviate financial burden of transportation to families.
“For Filipino culture, every Sunday is family day. This is an opportunity to give our fellow citizens time to appreciate Sundays,” Marcos said in a statement written in Filipino.

“We know the struggles of commuters. We often hear that they lack time for their families. That’s why we are giving them the chance to be with their families through the Pamilya Pass 1+3 promo,” Marcos added.
Under this program, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that the Metro Manila rail lines will offer free rides for up to three family members, including parents, children, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings, as well as uncles and aunts or guardians with dependents.
The promo will run every Sunday from June 2025 to June 2028.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon also clarified that there is no age limit and no need to present any identification or proof of relationship to any family member when availing the promo.
“It’s 1+3. Even friends can avail. It’s called family because Sundays are usually for families but it’s one plus three,” Dizon said in Filipino.
Meanwhile, when asked if the government will lose revenue from the said initiative, Dizon said that this is a form of help to the commuters.
“The government runs the MRT-3 and LRT-2 so we will lose little revenue but it is a form of help, like what the president said,” Dizon told reporters in an interview.
Dizon noted that the government will subsidize the initiative from LRT-1, like what the government did when the railway offered free rides for four days in celebration of Labor Day.
