MANILA, Philippines — A “more senior” officer who will be the next Philippine National Police chief will continue reforms in the national police force, current PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil said on Thursday.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., in a media briefing in Malaysia last Tuesday, announced that his choice as the next PNP chief is a “very senior officer,” but refused to name him.
“If they’re more senior, it will be better for the PNP so that our reforms will continue, the internal cleansing, the changes, the good service to the PNP and our people,” Marbil said in a chance interview with reporters in Quezon City on Thursday.
Marbil will retire on June 7, 2025.
