Marcos vows support for student-athletes

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos vowed support for student-athletes, saying they may be the next to represent the Philippines at international sporting events.
Marcos made this pronouncement at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Palarong Pambansa on Saturday at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Stadium in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

“The government will always have your back. We will help you reach your dreams because your win is our win as well,” Marcos told the participants.
“Today, you’re here participating at the Palarong Pambansa. In the future, you will be the next representative of the Philippines in the Asian Games as well as the Olympics, so do good,” the president further said.
Fifteen thousand delegates from the athletic associations of the country’s 18 regions, the National Academy of Sports and the Philippine Overseas Schools will participate in the games.
Hosted by the Ilocos Region, the 2025 Palarong Pambansa will run until May 31. /cb
