MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested in Manila for allegedly charging Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) applicants P350,000 to enter the agency.
The arrest was the result of an entrapment operation last Thursday at the corner of P. Campa Street and España Boulevard, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said in a statement on Saturday.
“Complaints of applicants for the Philippine Coast Guard [alleged] that the suspect misrepresented himself to have connection and influence in the PCG and that he can help them in the recruitment and selection process,” the CIDG detailed.
“Allegedly, each applicant can have a guaranteed entry to the PCG for a P350,000 payment,” the police unit added.
