Moderate to heavy rainfall in Palawan, 19 other areas — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Palawan and 19 other areas in the country on Saturday due to the effects of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In Pagasa’s 5 a.m. heavy rainfall outlook, the areas will experience 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. Pagasa warned that localized flooding is possible in low-lying or areas near the river, while landslides are possible in highly susceptible areas.

Pagasa’s 5 a.m. weather forecast also noted that Palawan and a huge portion of Mindanao will experience heavy rains due to the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres.
Pagasa earlier advised that the start of the rainy season is expected in early June. /das
