P50-M civil case filed vs Solid North over SCTEX road crash

MANILA, Philippines — A P50-million civil case was filed on Friday against bus operator Solid North Inc. over the SCTEX road crash in Tarlac City that killed 10 people on May 1.
The families of two of the 10 victims who died in the incident—Jonjon and Daina Janica Alinas—went to the Quezon City Hall of Justice to file cases against the bus operator, its president, and the bus driver.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon accompanied the families as they filed the cases.
The complainants are seeking P50 million in damages for the deaths of the victims, the loss of income and morale, and exemplary damages.
Meanwhile, the families of the other victims have also filed a civil case in a court in Antipolo City, seeking P80 million in damages.
The incident left 10 people dead, including four children, and reportedly injured 37 others./mcm
