MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Senator and Makati City Mayor-elect Nancy Binay announced that she will also ask department heads of the Makati city local government to submit their courtesy resignations.
Binay’s move is meant to make sure only those she “trusts” will be working for her.
She made the pronouncement on Thursday, the same day President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on members of his cabinet to turn in their courtesy resignations.

“Just like the president, at some point we will also ask for the resignation of department heads in Makati, because at the end of the day, the work must be done by those we trust,” said Binay.
She talked about her plan at the Kapihan sa Senado news forum.
According to Binay, this action will be one of her first orders as incoming Makati mayor.
“We are still evaluating. Just because we asked for courtesy resignations doesn’t mean everyone will be replaced,” she explained.
She has yet to finalize when she will be taking her oath as the new chief executive of Makati.
Binay won the local elections in Makati against her brother-in-law Luis Campos—garnering 114,898 votes against the latter’s 85,664./apl
