3 alleged traffickers nabbed in Bacoor; shabu worth P1.7M seized
LUCENA CITY, Philippines — Authorities arrested three alleged big-time drug traffickers and seized about P1.7 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in separate operations Monday, May 19, in Bacoor City, Cavite, according to a report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 4A.
PDEA agents, along with operatives from the Cavite Maritime Police Station, arrested suspects identified only as “Yasser,” 27, and “Jamel,” 39, around 1:55 p.m. after allegedly selling a pack of shabu to an undercover agent in Barangay Molino 4.
Seized from the suspects, both residents of Baclaran, Parañaque City, were about 200 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1.36 million, according to the report.
PDEA identified the two as “high-value individuals” (HVIs) in the illegal drug trade.
The suspects are being held at the PDEA-4A custodial facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. The agency is continuing its investigation to trace the source of the drugs.
In a separate operation around 5:45 p.m. in Barangay P.F. Espiritu 3, Bacoor anti-illegal drug operatives arrested another suspect, identified only as “Boss,” who is also considered an HVI.
Authorities said the suspect was found in possession of a knot-tied plastic sachet containing 50 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P340,000.
The three suspects will face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, on May 17, the same PDEA and maritime police team arrested another HVI, identified only as “Eugene,” in a buy-bust operation conducted in the open parking lot of a shopping mall in Bacoor City.
The operation yielded 500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P3.4 million.
