BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The Regional Task Force Kanlaon has lifted the ban on entering the 6-kilometer extended danger zone from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Donato Sermeno III, director of the Office of Civil Defense in the Negros Island Region, said on Friday, May 16, that the 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. entry period is open to farmers and family heads to attend to their crops and livestock and to visit their houses within the 6-kilometer extended danger zone.

The ban on entry into the 6-kilometer danger zone was imposed following Mt. Kanlaon’s explosive eruption at 2:55 a.m. on May 13.
Sermeno said they would not recommend residents, however, to be complacent about the danger because the behavior of Mt. Kanlaon remained unpredictable. /lzb
