MANILA, Philippines 鈥� A rainy Saturday is forecast in Palawan and some parts of Visayas and Mindanao due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) while a big portion of Luzon is expected to sizzle due to easterlies, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the occurrence of ITCZ, or the convergence聽 of winds coming from northern and southern hemispheres, may form a low-pressure area inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

鈥淢A huge portion of Luzon will experience a hot noon while there鈥檚 a big chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, especially in parts of Central Luzon, including Metro Manila, parts of Calabarzon, and Mindoro area,鈥� Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said in Filipino during the 5 a.m. weather forecast.
Badrina also said that Palawan is expected to experience cloudy skies and scattered rains, lightning, and thunder.
鈥淚n Eastern Visayas, expect cloudy skies, scattered rains, lightning and thunder in areas of Samar, Leyte, and Biliran due to the ITCZ,鈥� Badrina added.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Visayas will see generally fair weather with chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Lastly, Badrina warned that rains may bring flash floods and landslides in Mindanao.
