2 dead, 5 hurt in Caloocan fire

MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were killed and five others were injured after a fire struck a residential area in Caloocan City, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Thursday morning.
In its report, the BFP identified the fatalities as a 16-year-old girl and a 52-year-old man.
Meanwhile, the injured were the following:
- a 16-year-old boy who was electrocuted and had an abrasion on his right hand
- an 18-year-old man with a laceration on the right foot
- a 30-year-old man with a laceration on his left upper back and multiple abrasions on both legs
- a 52-year-old man with a laceration on the right leg
- a 54-year-old man with a second-degree burn on the left arm
The BFP said the incident took place along Natividad Street in Barangay 81 and was first reported at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
The blaze reached the first alarm by 4:50 p.m. and the second alarm by 4:53 p.m.
The fire was under control by 6:17 p.m. and was extinguished by 9:57 p.m.

According to the BFP, the incident burned about 80 structures, affecting at least 100 individuals or 70 families.
The BFP has yet to determine the cause of the fire. /das
