MANILA, Philippines — Seven individuals were arrested over the past week for alleged gunrunning, illegal liquified petroleum gas (LPG) refilling and practicing medicine without a license, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced.
In a statement on Wednesday, the CIDG said it arrested three suspects last May 7 in Barangay Longos, Calumpit, Bulacan after a search warrant operation caught them allegedly refilling and repainting LPG cylinders without the company’s authorization.
Authorities seized P6.3 million in evidence, including the LPG cylinders, a refilling machine, a storage tank, a truck, and other refilling equipment, the CIDG added.
The warrant was for alleged violation of Republic Act 623 as amended by RA 5700 or An Act to Regulate the Use of Duly Stamped or Marked Bottles, Boxes, Casks, Kegs, Barrels and Other Similar Containers, according to the police.

2 caught in Malabon for alleged gunrunning
Another statement from the CIDG said it caught two suspects allegedly trading a caliber .38 revolver last May 9 in Paradise Village in Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City.
One of the suspects was identified as a member of a local singing group popular on social media and a driver for a logistics company, while the other was a sticker signage installer.
“They are members of the newly identified ‘Laguna Criminal Group,’ allegedly engaged in gunrunning activities in Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) areas,” the CIDG said in the statement.
The suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act as well as Batas Pambansa 881 or the Omnibus Election Code.

2 nabbed for illegal practice of medicine
Two more suspects were arrested last May 10 in Makati City for allegedly practicing medicine without Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) or Department of Health (DOH) approval, the CIDG said in a separate statement on Wednesday.

Police identified the suspects as two Vietnamese individuals.
“They were caught while performing a lip filling/lip augmentation procedure without license from the proper authority,” the police explained.
The CIDG said it was a violation of RA 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959. / MR
