Man shot dead after attending court hearing in Batangas

LUCENA CITY – A man was killed after attending a court hearing in Tanauan City in Batangas province on Thursday (July 7) afternoon, authorities said.

The Batangas police on Friday said the victim, Christian Georfo, 47, was on his way home when several armed men repeatedly shot him in Barangay Darasa around 3:30 p.m.

After the shooting, the killers escaped aboard an unidentified vehicle and left their target dead on the roadside sewage canal.

Police said the victim had just attended a court hearing for the crime of frustrated homicide when he was gunned down.

The report did not specify whether the victim was the suspect or a witness in the criminal case.

Police were conducting further investigation to identify the gunmen and establish the motive behind the killing.
