CALASIAO, Pangasinan—The town’s police station had resumed operations on Monday (April 5) or five days after it was forced to close by a COVID-19 outbreak.

At least 30 individuals, including the police station chief, had tested positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and remained on quarantine in a facility, said Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon.

The station’s closure allowed disinfection through ultra violet devices and chemicals, Bauzon said.

The mayor said the station was reopened to prevent delay in basic police services, especially in areas of concern and lockdowns.

The station will be manned by policemen and employees who had already tested negative for the virus.

As of Monday, the town had 17 active COVID-19 cases.

In La Union, the provincial government sent a team to Naguilian town to help slow the spread of virus transmission.
