‘Signaling error’ halts MRT-3 train; over 1K passengers offloaded

A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) offloaded around 1,050 passengers on Friday morning due to a mechanical blip.

In an advisory, the MRT-3 management said passengers on the southbound train were asked to disembark at Ortigas Station at 9:37 a.m. as the train suffered an “ATP or signaling error” which could have been caused by “defective or worn out ATP/Signaling sub-components (e.g. ATP sensor) or tacho shaft malfunction.”

Passengers were subsequently loaded in the next train, which arrived five minutes after the glitch.                /kga
