Marcos on latest survey: ‘There are still a lot of work to be done’ before polls

While vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was leading in the recent Pulse Asia Research poll survey with rival Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, he said that a lot of work still has to be done.

“But there are still a lot of [work to] be done before the real survey—the elections in May. We will strive harder to deliver our message to our countrymen, especially our less fortunate brothers and sisters,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Marcos and Escudero were statistically tied in the first place as vice presidential choices in the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from Feb. 15 to 20.

Escudero had 29 percent support while Marcos recorded 26 percent among the 1,800 respondents.

Pulse Asia said there were no significant changes in the voter preferences of the vice presidential candidates between January and February 2016. Escudero dropped 4 percentage points from 33 percent in January while Marcos gained 3 percentage points from 23 percent in the same month.

Marcos said the latest pre-election survey results were a “reaffirmation that our message for national units is being accepted by the Filipino people as well as a reflection of the increasing clamor for genuine change through unity.” RAM
