More people want ban on fraternities, says 好色先生TV poll

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 A majority of 好色先生TV readers believe that fraternities should be banned from colleges and universities, according to a survey it conducted.

The question posted was 鈥淒o you think colleges and fraternities should ban fraternities?鈥

好色先生TV poll results showed that of the 4, 446 votes gathered as of Thursday morning, 3,779 respondents or 85 percent believed that colleges and universities should ban fraternities while only 15 percent or 667 votes opposed calls to ban fraternities.

In the past weeks, there has been a public clamor to ban fraternities in colleges and universities following the death of a student of the De La Salle-College of Saint听Benilde听and another hazing incident from the University of the Philippines in听Diliman.

On Tuesday, a lawmaker filed a bill expressly banning any form of hazing in and out of schools instead of merely regulating it as the Anti-Hazing Law does.

The bill sought to repeal the 1995 Anti-Hazing Law and expand the responsibility of schools in the crime.
