Lagusnilad underpass now open to vehicles鈥擬MDA

MANILA, Philippines—The Lagusnilad underpass in Manila is now passable to all types of vehicles after it was filled with floodwaters brought by Tropical Storm Maring and southwest monsoon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said on Wednesday.

Roger Nicodemus of MMDA-Flood Control Unit said the underpass was reopened to traffic around 9:30 p.m. after 16 vacuum trucks were used to pump out the floodwaters estimated to be around 500,000 liters.

Lagusnilad has been submerged under floodwaters since intermittent rains showered the Metro Manila since Sunday.
