LUCENA CITY — A five-year-old daughter of a policeman was wounded after she was shot by a still unidentified gunman in Lucban, Quezon on Monday, June 16, police said.
In a report on Tuesday, June 17, the Quezon police said the victim, who was not identified for being a minor, was with her brother on the terrace of their house in Barangay (village) Ayuti at around 1:50 p.m. when the crime happened.
A male motorcyclist arrived and, without any provocation, shot the girl twice using a handgun.
The gunman immediately fled after the shooting and left his target with bullet wounds to her right upper arm and stomach.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In a phone interview, Police Master Sergeant Jomar Villaflor, case investigator, disclosed that the victim is “a daughter of a policeman.” The investigator did not provide further information.
The police are conducting investigations and are searching for video footage from closed-circuit television cameras in the area to identify the assailant and establish the motive behind the incident.
The gunman was described in the report as wearing a red-and-gray hoodie jacket and riding a Honda Click motorcycle.
Police launched a manhunt operation to arrest the culprit. /apl
