MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone will bring rains in parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In Pagasa’s 5 p.m. weather forecast on Sunday, weather specialist Veronica Torres said that ITCZ, or the convergence of wind from the northern and southern hemispheres, is currently affecting Mindanao and the eastern section of Visayas.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, are affecting the eastern part of Luzon.

“We can see that in the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental, rains are possible due to the ITCZ,” Torres said in Filipino.
Torres also noted that the rest of Visayas and Mindanao may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
“There are chances of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Bicol region will experience rains while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms.
The Pagasa is not monitoring any low pressure area (LPA) or tropical cyclone inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Last Friday, Tropical Depression Auring weakened into an LPA and exited the PAR. It began crossing a large part of Taiwan on the same day. It was the first recorded cyclone in the country in 2025.
