MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Senate President Francis Escudero has appointed Atty. Reginald Tongol as spokesperson of the impeachment court.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Escudero said Tongol鈥檚 appointment takes effect immediately and will remain in place at least until the convening of the 20th Congress.聽
鈥淗is role will be crucial in ensuring that information surrounding the impeachment proceedings is communicated accurately, responsibly, and in a timely manner that fosters public trust,鈥� said Escudero.聽

He has also worked previously at the Office of the President and the House of Representatives.
In an unexpected turn of events, the senator-judges took their oath and subsequently agreed to convene into an impeachment court聽 for the on Tuesday, June 10.聽
This is ahead of the initial schedule agreed upon by senators at the plenary on Monday which sets the convening date on Wednesday June 11.
