Escudero orders writ of summons served to VP Sara Duterte

MANILA, Philippines — Senate Impeachment Court Presiding Officer Francis Escudero has directed the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms to deliver the writ of summons to Vice President Sara Duterte on June 11 in connection with the impending impeachment trial against her.

A copy of the order shared with the media states that Escudero specifically directed retired Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan to deliver a true and attested copy of the writ of summons to the country’s second-highest official.

“You are hereby commanded to deliver to and leave with Vice President Duterte, if conveniently to be found, or if not, to leave at her usual place of abode, or at her usual place of business in some conspicuous place, a true and attested copy of the within writ of summons, together with a like copy of this order, and in whichsoever way you perform the service, let it be done forthwith,” the letter reads.
“Fail not, and make return of this writ of summons and order, with your proceedings thereon endorsed, not later than 3 days from service,” it adds./mcm
