MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is eyeing to offer around eight million digital jobs by 2028 through its initiative “Trabahong Digital.”

DICT explained that the Trabahong Digital program “seeks to leverage the country’s growing digital economy by expanding internet connectivity nationwide, especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.”

According to Assistant Secretary Renato Paraiso, DICT spokesperson, the agency aims to prioritize digital trust and safety by strengthening data privacy protocols and holding digital platforms accountable for identifying and removing fake job advertisements under the leadership of DICT chief Henry Rhoel Aguda.

Aside from this, the agency is also in the process of modernizing online public services through improving government e-services.

“Driving the digital-first economy will maximize job opportunities and business growth through digital skills empowerment and by providing our people with the tools they need to succeed,” Aguda said in a statement on Saturday.
