Cagayan de Oro mall displays giant PH flags out of origami butterflies
ILIGAN CITY — In the run-up to the 127th Independence Day, the homegrown Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City has displayed giant flags celebrating the national symbol.
The flags draped from a height of 20 feet at the mall’s rotunda.
According to the management of Limketkai Center, the flags are formed from 12,000 origami butterflies that symbolize “transformation, hope, and rebirth” of the Filipino nation.

“They are the handiwork of staff who worked tirelessly to creatively honor our national symbol,” it said.
It took 10 days to make all the origami butterflies.
The national government had sought to burnish patriotism among the people during the Independence Day celebration, especially amid threats to the country’s sovereignty.
Memorandum Circular No. 77 issued by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin directed the commemoration of Independence Day to be a celebration of “the freedom fought for by our forefathers, the future that they dreamt for the nation, and the history we aim to remember and honor.”/mr
