Brian Poe returns to FPJ’s hometown of San Carlos, Pangasinan to take oath as congressman
SAN CARLOS, Pangasinan – In a heartfelt homecoming, Brian Poe returned to this city, the hometown of his grandfather, the legendary actor Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), to take his oath as the newly elected congressman.
The event, held at the New Palaming Barangay Hall on June 5, 2025, not only marks the start of Brian’s journey as a public servant but also pays tribute to the enduring legacy of FPJ, a beloved figure who championed the rights and welfare of the Filipino people.
The ceremony was attended by local government officials, community leaders, friends, and supporters, all gathered to celebrate this important milestone.
Brian expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of San Carlos for their trust and support during his campaign, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the values his grandfather represented.
Kevin George Calugay, barangay chairman of Palaming, passionately expressed his support for Brian Poe during the ceremony, stating, “Sa pagkakatalaga kay Congressman Brian Poe ng FPJ Panday Bayanihan Partylist, muling nabubuhay ang diwa ng bayanihan sa loob ng Kongreso—isang lider na sumusunod sa yapak ng serbisyong may puso at handang itaguyod ang kapakanan ng Pilipino na saksi ang kanyang bagong kabarangay niya dito sa Palaming.”
His remarks underscore Poe’s commitment to public service and reflect the community’s trust that he will advocate for their needs in this new role.
In his speech, Poe stated: “Kaya noong tinanong ako kung saan ako mag o-oathtaking, hindi ako nagdalawang isip, sabi ko dito dapat sa Barangay Palaming. At bakit dito? Dahil tumakbo naman ako para sa inyo. Ang trabaho ko bilang isang congressman ay hindi magtrabaho para sa sarili ko kundi magtrabaho para sa taumbayan. Tama po ba? E di dapat kayo po ang kasama ko sa oathtaking ko. At syempre bilang pasasalamat din sa inyo dahil alam ko na napakasipag mangampanya ang mga kapitbahay ko.”
“At syempre, ginagawa natin ito para sa legasiya ni FPJ. At sa tingin ko naman, matutuwa ang aking lolo na dito sa San Carlos ako nanumpa para sa posisyon na ito,” he added, reflecting on the deep familial and cultural ties that connect him to the community’s history.
“Mga kasama, maraming salamat po sa tulong niyo noong kampanya at sa pagiging volunteers po at ngayon dahil magkakasama pa rin tayo dito sa oath-taking. Itong FPJ Panday Bayanihan Partylist. Ito ang partylist ng San Carlos, ito ang partylist ng Palaming.”
