MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte expressed hope on Friday that the commemoration of Eid al-Adha would remind Filipinos of the importance of “sacrifice, faith, and kindness.”
“On this occasion, may the meaning of sacrifice, faith, and kindness serve as a reminder to all of us—values that are important not only to our faith but also to our daily lives as a nation,” Duterte said in a video message on Friday.

“The spirit of Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of courage, generosity, and compassion for others—qualities that are especially important in today’s times,” she added.
She also wished the Muslim community a meaningful commemoration of Eid al-Adha.
“My solidarity with you is strengthened by brotherhood, respect, and acceptance,” she added.
Eidul al-Adha commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. It falls on the 10th day of the Zhul Hiija or the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.
