MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck just off the coast of Sorsogon province on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor occurred at around 9:17 p.m, seven kilometers north of Prieto Diaz town, according to Phivolcs’ data.
Instruments in Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon and Legazpi City, Albay reported Intensities III (weak) and II (slightly felt), respectively.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of around 10 kilometers, Phivolcs detailed.

No damage or aftershocks were expected, the state seismologist further said. /das
