KORONADAL CITY – A freak highway accident claimed the lives of a family of three after the car they were riding collided head-on with a cargo truck along the national highway in Malungon, Sarangani, around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4.
Arnel Pinque, operations chief of the Malungon municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO), said Abdulmajid Sarapudin, 35, a security guard, was driving the Mitsubishi sedan, with his wife Ivy Lou, 33, and their child Coleen, 3, on board, when he lost control of the steering after the car’s front wheel slipped from the main road due to a crack between the concrete pavement and asphalt in the town’s Barangay Talus.
The car collided with the oncoming prime mover trailer truck, killing the family on the spot.
Pinque said the family lived in Barangay Labangal of General Santos City.
The truck driver had voluntarily surrendered to authorities. /das
