MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) formalized a deal to provide legal assistance and education for the police officers in Metro Manila.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of agreement at the NCRPO鈥檚 headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City on Wednesday.
The partnership is aimed at 鈥減roviding legal counseling, assistance and education to uniformed personnel, particularly those facing service-related legal challenges,鈥� the NCRPO said in a statement after the event.
Another goal of the deal is to 鈥渆nhance officers鈥� legal expertise through re-education, equipping them with up-to-date knowledge of existing laws to ensure fair and effective law enforcement,鈥� the regional office聽 added.

In a radio interview earlier on Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III pushed for continuing legal education for police officers to keep them up-to-date with changes in the laws.
鈥淐ollaboration with legal experts will further enhance officers鈥� comprehension and application of the law, foster professionalism and reinforce public trust,鈥� the NCRPO further said./apl
