Calabarzon cops seize P8.3M worth of illegal drugs in May

LUCENA CITY — Police anti-narcotics operatives in Calabarzon seized more than P8.3 million worth of illegal drugs during their month-long operation in May.
A report from the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A) public information office (PIO) said drug enforcers arrested 699 suspected “high-value individuals” (HVI) and street pushers during their 533 anti-illegal drug operations across the region last month.
Police said drug enforcers seized 1,195.28 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 2,087.92 grams of marijuana with a total value of P8,390,115, according to the PIO report.

The seized illegal drugs in May were lower than the confiscated shabu and marijuana last April, which were worth P27.6 million.
Also arrested in May were 899 persons who were subjects of manhunt operations; at least 75 of these were on the wanted list of PRO-4A.
Last month, law enforcers in the five provinces arrested 1,267 illegal gamblers. At least 258 cases have been filed in courts against the suspects.
