Marcos retains Remulla brothers, Teodoro in his Cabinet

MANILA, Philippines — The courtesy resignations submitted by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro were declined by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., said Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday.
Bersamin made the pronouncement during a Palace press conference where he announced the latest movement in Marcos’ Cabinet.

“Definitely, declined na ‘yan (those are already declined),” Bersamin said when asked about the Remullas’ and Teodoro’s resignation.
Meanwhile, Bersamin could not confirm if National Security Adviser Eduardo Año’s courtesy resignation was either accepted or declined by Marcos.
“I do not know yet, as that is a personal thing to the President,” said Bersamin.
“Security adviser ‘yan and actually that resignation letter was not coursed through me as it was a personal thing,” he added.

During the press conference, Bersamin announced Nicolas Torre III’s appointment as the new police chief, as well as the appointment of Shirley Agrupis as the new chair of the Commission on Higher Education.
He also announced Darlene Berberabe, dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law, as the new Solicitor General.
