Phivolcs records 28 aftershocks in aftermath of Quezon quake Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-eight aftershocks have been recorded from the magnitude 4.6 earthquake that shook General Nakar in Quezon province on Tuesday afternoon.
Phivolcs gave this information in a text message to reporters on Wednesday morning.
The agency reported that as of 6:00 a.m., one of the recorded aftershocks was felt by residents, while 13 were detected by volcanologists.
The magnitudes of the aftershocks range from 1.3 to 3.6.
It was on Tuesday at 12:17 p.m. when the General Nakar was jolted by a magnitude 4.6 earthquake, which was first measured at magnitude 5.1.

The earthquake was also felt in other areas, including Metro Manila, which led to the suspension of classes in some schools and universities.
Phivolcs clarified that the event was not triggered by the West Valley Fault.

No property damage has been recorded so far, the Office of Civil Defense earlier said./apl
