2 nabbed for alleged illegal sale of P1M worth of petroleum products

MANILA, Philippines — Two individuals were arrested in Camarines Sur for an alleged scheme of illegal trade of unmarked fuel also known as “paihi” modus.
Authorities caught fuel tanker truck driver “Levi” and businessman “Danny” in an operation in Barangay Tambo in Pamplona town last Thursday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said in a statement.

“The duo were caught while engaging in ‘paihi’ or the method of unloading or transferring of petroleum product from a fuel tanker truck into plastic containers, using suction, discharge hose and funnel,” the CIDG said.
Police confiscated the fuel tanker truck carrying an estimated 20,000 liters of petroleum and 18 plastic containers each filled with 20 liters of petroleum, with a total value of P1 million.
The suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service for violating Batas Pambansa 33 as amended by Presidential Decree 1865, which pertains to the illegal trading of petroleum products. /cb
