P759,000 worth of shabu, marijuana seized in Calabarzon

LUCENA CITY, Philippines — Authorities caught two alleged drug traffickers on Monday, May 26, and seized P759,000 worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) and marijuana in separate operations in Batangas and Cavite provinces in the Calabarzon Region.
Calabarzon, also known as the Southern Tagalog Region, is composed the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.
In a report, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Calabarzon said their agents and other law enforcers nabbed “Edmar,” 30, during a surprise interdiction operation at the port complex in Barangay Santa Clara in Batangas City around 4 p.m.
PDEA said the suspect, a resident of Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, was caught carrying 75 grams of suspected shabu worth P510,000.

The report said the suspect was bound for Calapan City in the island province. PDEA did not provide further information on the suspect.
Meanwhile, anti-illegal drugs operatives in Bacoor City, Cavite, arrested a suspected big-time drug trafficker and seized P240,000 worth of marijuana.
In another report, the Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO 4A) said police officer collared “Niño,” 33, at 11:50 p.m. in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Panapaan 1.
The cops confiscated 2,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops placed in four sealed plastic bags.
The suspect, a resident of the locality, is classified on the police watch list as a high-value individual (HVI) in the local drug trade.
HVI is a designation referring to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, importers, or known members of drug syndicates.
Police are conducting further investigations to determine the source of the prohibited hemp.
The arrested suspects in Batangas City and Bacoor City were detained and will face a complaint for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /atm
