MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau said 25 areas, including Metro Manila, are expected to reach “danger” level peak heat indices on Monday, May 26.
Heat index measures how high humidity combined with unusually high temperatures reduces the body’s ability to cool itself, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa’s latest forecast, Dagupan City in Pangasinan is expected to experience the highest heat index at 46ºC.
Heat indices between 42ºC and 51ºC are classified as “danger category” because they significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
The following areas are forecast to experience heat indices of 42ºC or higher:
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 46ºC
- Aparri, Cagayan – 45ºC
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 44ºC
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte – 44ºC
- Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite – 44ºC
- Masbate City, Masbate – 44ºC
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur – 44ºC
- MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte – 43ºC
- Bacnotan, La Union – 43ºC
- ISU Echague, Isabela – 43ºC
- Baler (Radar), Aurora – 43ºC
- Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City – 43ºC
- Tau Camiling, Tarlac – 43ºC
- Infanta, Quezon – 43ºC
- Iloilo City, Iloilo – 43ºC
- Dumangas, Iloilo – 43ºC
- Naia Pasay City, Metro Manila – 42ºC
- Science Garden, Quezon City, Metro Manila – 42ºC
- Sinait, Ilocos Sur – 42ºC
- Casiguran, Aurora – 42ºC
- Iba, Zambales – 42ºC
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan – 42ºC
