Crimes down by 23.13% in Metro Manila in last 6 months, says NCRPO

The crime rate in Metro Manila went down by 23.13 percent in the last six months, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

MANILA, Philippines — The crime rate in Metro Manila went down by 23.13 percent in the last six months, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

In a statement on Saturday, the NCRPO said it recorded 779 fewer incidents of focus crimes from November 23, 2024 to May 23, 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft and carnapping.

The NCRPO further said:

However, the police did say carnapping of motorcycles increased by 5.38 percent during the said period.

The NCRPO also touted that its crime solution efficiency rose from 69.06 percent to 69.64 percent.

But, it also said the regional police’s crime clearance efficiency dropped from 99.67 percent to 99.15 percent.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) considers a case cleared if the offender has been identified and a criminal complaint has been filed against them.

On the other hand, a case is considered solved if the offender has been arrested. /jpv
